Volunteering Opportunities

At The Riverview Academy, we welcome the opportunity to support members of the local community with the opportunity to gain some work experience at school.  We understand that many of our parents, carers and local community representatives are keen to gain valuable school based experience and so we try to ensure that we accommodate them where possible.
We do, from time to time, need volunteers to read with children or assist in classrooms and other areas of school/learning.

As with any member of staff at Riverview, we have high expectations in terms of professionalism and commitment from our volunteer community.  We are looking for:

  • Volunteers who are committed to the school and supporting the children with their learning and achievement.
  • Volunteers who have a particular skill set they feel will help enhance the quality of provision at school.
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and motivated individuals who are keen to gain some invaluable school based experience.

If you would like to discuss volunteering at The Riverview Academy, please contact the school office.

We are looking for...

'Reading Champion' Volunteers

We are delighted to be able to have volunteers in school and are now looking for parents/carers to come into school and help some of our children with their reading. Here at Riverview, we want to instil confidence and inspire a love of reading in every child. Some children lack confidence in reading and would greatly benefit from practising their skills 1:1 with an adult.

As a reading volunteer, you would spend time with each child talking about the book they are reading and listening to them read. You would hopefully work with the same children each time, getting to know them and watching them progress.

'Careers Champion' Volunteers

We are excited to begin planning future opportunities for our children to explore the world of work – and we’d love your help!

At Riverview, we want our children to dream big, feel inspired, and begin to understand the many different paths their futures might take. Whether you have an interesting job, a unique career journey, or just a passion for your profession, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We’re looking for parents/carers and wider members of our school community who would be willing to either:

  • Get involved in our Careers Week (coming in 2026), or…

  • Host a small workshop or Q&A with a group of children, or…

  • Speak in an assembly about their career or role

You don’t need to be a polished public speaker – just someone who’s happy to share their story in a way that gets children thinking about what they might like to do one day.

If you’re interested or want to find out more, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you!
