A Joyful First Day at The Riverview Academy
Posted: September 2025

Today marked a truly special milestone in our journey as The Riverview Academy – the first day with our children as part of this brand-new chapter.

As families arrived this morning, colourful balloons decorated the school gates, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

To mark the occasion, we held a mini ribbon-cutting ceremony with some of our pupils – a symbolic moment to celebrate our fresh start and the bright future ahead. The children beamed with pride as they helped open this new era for our school.

This was more than just a first day back – it was the beginning of a journey where kindness, respect, resilience, responsibility, excellence, and teamwork will be at the heart of everything we do.

We are so proud of the way our pupils embraced the day with such positivity and enthusiasm. The energy across the school was uplifting and set the perfect tone for the year ahead.

Here’s to many more days of learning, laughter, and shared success at The Riverview Academy!

Design Our New Logo – A Summer Challenge for Riverview Children!
Posted: August 2025

As we take our next exciting step forward as The Riverview Academy, we’re inviting our brilliant children to help shape our school’s future… quite literally!

This week, families will receive a letter introducing a summer logo design competition, where children can get creative and submit their ideas for a brand-new school logo. This design will become part of our identity from January 2026 and will appear on our uniform, website, letterheads, banners, and around the school – so it’s a chance for our pupils to leave a lasting legacy.

Children are welcome to use any medium: drawing, painting, collage, or digital design, and we’re asking that each entry clearly features the words “The Riverview Academy.”

We’re also offering a £50 Smyths Toys voucher for the winning design, as well as some exciting runner-up prizes for shortlisted entries. Once the competition closes, we’ll work with a professional designer to turn our pupils’ ideas into the final school logo – keeping the heart of the winning entry alive in the design.

Entries should be submitted by email (a photo of the artwork is perfect!) along with the child’s full name and their year group for September 2025.

We can’t wait to see the imagination and creativity of our children in action. Let the designing begin!

Setting the Tone: Our First INSET Day Together
Posted: July 2025

Before the summer term came to a close, I had the privilege of leading The Riverview Academy’s first INSET day with our dedicated staff team. It was a special moment – not just for me personally as I prepared to officially step into post this September – but for us as a whole school, standing at the start of a new chapter.

We spent most of the day reflecting on our purpose: what brought us into education, the moments that shaped us, and the impact we want to make in the lives of the brilliant children we serve. For me, that journey began way back when I was a child in Year 1, listening wide-eyed as my teacher, Miss Hunt, read The Magic Faraway Tree aloud each day. Her warmth, her belief in us, and her ability to bring learning to life lit the spark of wanting to become a teacher myself… a spark that stayed with me ever since!

During the session, we also began to shape our shared vision for the future of Riverview – rooted in our core values and the belief that every child deserves to feel known, challenged, and inspired. We asked important questions about what we stand for as a school, and how we show up for our children, our families, and one another.

The energy in the room was fantastic, and I left the day feeling even more excited for what lies ahead. We have a strong, passionate team, and I know we’ll do something really special here at Riverview!

A Rainy Day, a Warm Welcome, and a New Sign for a New Chapter
Posted: July 2025

Despite the rainy weather, I had a truly wonderful time at the Riverview Summer Event earlier this month. It was fantastic to meet so many families, staff, and members of the wider community – thank you to everyone who came along, chatted, and helped create such a positive and welcoming atmosphere!

The event marked more than just the end of the school year; it also symbolised the beginning of something new for Riverview. It was a chance for us to come together and celebrate everything that makes our school special, while also looking ahead to a future shaped by unity, belonging, and ambition.

Another exciting step on that journey – our brand-new The Riverview Academy sign is now officially up! It’s a small change on the outside of the building, but it represents something much bigger: a shared identity, a fresh chapter, and a sense of pride in the direction we’re heading.

Thank you again to everyone who made the day such a success. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with all of you!

A New Chapter for Riverview
July 2025

I’m delighted to be writing my first blog post as the new Headteacher of The Riverview Academy. It’s a real privilege to join this wonderful, caring community at such a significant moment in the school’s journey.

Riverview already has so much to be proud of – brilliant children, dedicated staff, and a strong sense of kindness and belonging at its heart. Over the coming months, we’ll be working together to build on those strengths, shaping a shared vision for the future as we move forward as one unified school. This includes some exciting changes like a new logo, refreshed values, and the introduction of a new school uniform – all designed to reflect the inclusive, ambitious spirit we want every child to feel part of.

But beyond the changes, my aim is simple: to be a visible, approachable and values-led Headteacher who puts relationships first. I want this to be a school where everyone (children, parents/carers, staff, and the wider community) feels welcome, heard, and proud to belong.

This blog will be one way I share that journey with you: from everyday moments in the classrooms to big-picture updates about where we’re heading next.

Thank you for the warm welcome so far. I can’t wait to get started!
