Mental Health and Wellbeing

At The Riverview Academy, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our children. Supporting and promoting wellbeing, building resilience and good mental health will improve outcomes for our children.
We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. The social and emotional skills, knowledge and behaviours that young people learn in the classroom can help them to build resilience and set the pattern for how they will manage their mental health throughout their lives.

Staff have been trained in the ‘Zones of Regulation’. This assists teachers in identifying how children are feeling and discuss ways, means and strategies of how to alleviate some stress. This forms part of the whole school ‘wellbeing’ strategy.

Some of our staff have received ‘Youth Mental Health Awareness’ training in order to gain a wider understanding of the issues surrounding mental health.
