At The Riverview Academy, we believe in working in partnership with our families to create the best possible experience for every child. Each year, we invite parents/carers to share their views through our regular school surveys. Your feedback helps us celebrate what’s working well and identify ways we can grow and improve. On this page, you’ll find a summary of our latest survey results and the steps we’re taking in response. Thank you for having your say and helping shape the future of our school.
Summary:
Before officially joining Riverview as Headteacher in September 2025, I invited parents/carers to share their thoughts via a survey in June. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to respond – your feedback has been both valuable and insightful.
We were proud to hear that many of you appreciate the school’s strong sense of community, nurturing environment, and dedicated staff. Words like kind, inclusive, fun, and supportive came up again and again. Parents/Carers praised the welcoming atmosphere, the enthusiasm of our teachers, and the way children are encouraged to enjoy learning and grow in confidence.
You also shared valuable suggestions around improving communication, ensuring greater consistency, supporting children with additional needs, and increasing opportunities for enrichment like trips and clubs. We’ve taken this feedback seriously and are already working on ways to address these areas in the year ahead.
You Said… | We Did… |
|---|---|
| Communication sometimes feels inconsistent, with too many emails or short notice for events. | We are reviewing all communications to streamline what we send and when. A simplified calendar and improved reminders are in development. |
| You value the school’s community feel, kind staff, and nurturing environment. | We are committed to protecting what makes Riverview special – our values-led approach will continue to sit at the heart of everything we do. |
| There’s been high staff turnover, which has impacted relationships and consistency. | We are working hard to stabilise staffing and build a strong, committed team. Early recruitment and robust support are key priorities. |
| SEND support has been a concern for some families, especially around communication and consistency. | A full review of our SEND provision is underway, with new systems and more regular communication being introduced from September. |
| More enrichment opportunities like trips, clubs and events would be welcome. | We are expanding our enrichment offer this year, including after-school clubs and greater access to trips and creative opportunities. |
| You’d like to see more challenge for children who are ready to go further. | We will be focusing on stretch and challenge for all learners as part of our curriculum development this year. |
| Children benefit from outdoor and hands-on learning experiences. | Forest School will continue and we’re exploring ways to bring more practical, nature-based and creative learning into the curriculum. |
Your voice makes a difference, and we’re grateful for your honesty, ideas, and support as we continue to strengthen Riverview together.
