School Priorities 2025/2026

The Riverview Academy: School Development Priorities 2025-2026

At The Riverview Academy, our vision is “Excellence & Ambition for All.” This year, we are focusing on key priorities to ensure every child receives the best possible education in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our main areas of focus are:
Strengthening Parent/Carer Partnerships & Communication

We aim to build strong connections with families through regular events, clear communication, and opportunities for parents and carers to actively engage in school life. This partnership supports children’s learning and wellbeing at school and at home.

Improving Early Reading and Phonics

Following recent phonics screening results, we are embedding the Read Write Inc phonics scheme across Early Years and Key Stage 1. We will monitor progress closely, provide targeted support for children who need it, and work with parents/carers to support reading development at home.

Embedding a Coherent and Knowledge-Rich Curriculum

We are ensuring all subjects are carefully planned and sequenced to build knowledge and skills progressively. This approach will close learning gaps and deepen children’s understanding across all areas of the curriculum.

Cultivating a Thriving Reading Culture

We are promoting a love of reading through initiatives such as Accelerated Reader, enriched library resources, daily reading sessions, and systematic vocabulary teaching. This supports improved literacy and a lifelong enjoyment of books.

Raising Attainment and Improving Outcomes for All Children

We are focused on improving attainment across all core subjects, including Key Stage 2 outcomes, ensuring children achieve at least national standards. Targeted interventions and high-quality teaching will help close gaps, particularly for disadvantaged and SEND children.

Promoting Positive Behaviour and Wellbeing

We are embedding ‘The Riverview Way’ – our personalised behaviour curriculum – to create a consistent, respectful, and supportive environment. We will also enhance break and lunchtime activities to boost engagement and wellbeing.

Providing an Excellent Personal Development and Enrichment Offer

We are dedicated to nurturing the whole child by offering a rich and varied personal development programme that supports children’s social, emotional, moral, and cultural growth. This includes:

  • Promoting leadership skills and responsibility through pupil leadership roles and involvement in school decisions.
  • Celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion to ensure every child feels valued and respected.
  • Offering a wide range of enrichment activities, clubs, and experiences that broaden horizons and build confidence.
  • Supporting wellbeing through targeted pastoral care and initiatives that promote resilience, kindness, and teamwork.
  • Ensuring children receive effective guidance on their next steps in learning and life, preparing them for future success.
These priorities reflect our commitment to delivering an excellent education while nurturing the whole child. We look forward to working closely with our community to achieve these goals and support every child to become the best version of themselves.
