If in the event the school closes, we will put in place remote learning for your child.
Pupil Expectations
All children who are learning remotely will be expected to engage in the activities that we are providing – this is to ensure continuity and progress in the learning they are undertaking. Children will also be able to submit pieces of learning on Google Classroom (including pictures of their paper-based learning or digitally created learning). This will be reviewed and monitored by the class teacher.
Parent Support
We understand that supporting children with remote learning can be very challenging and places a tremendous burden on parents/carers, especially in families where there are multiple school-age children. The school intends to support you as much as it can. Parents and carers can contact their child’s class teacher either via class DoJo or by emailing the office.
Teacher Support
Class teachers will be available to provide feedback via Google Classroom. Engagement and progress will be tracked by the pupils’ class teachers and the Senior Leadership team.
Suggested tips for how to Manage Remote Learning
- Start the day properly: get dressed and have breakfast
- Create a timetable and stick to it. Routine is very important for all of us
- Make sure your timetable includes breaks and time for play. Try have breaks in the fresh air even if it’s by an open window
- Stay properly hydrated through the day by drinking lots of water
- You should build in time for some physical exercise. If your child finds it difficult to calm down after this kind of activity, try mindful colouring (you can download colouring pages from many websites) and listening to calming music for 15 minutes
- Limit screen time when your child is not in lessons and make sure you have the appropriate settings on your child’s device
- At the end of the day, reflect on all the positive things your children have achieved and praise them for it
- Mental health is extremely important. Listen to your children and remember the importance of fun and creative activities. Young Minds https://youngminds.org.uk/ website has some tips for parents/carers
- This is a really great time to read some books and share the stories with your children
