Charity Events & Awareness Days

At The Riverview Academy, we believe in showing kindness and making a difference – both in our school and beyond. Throughout the year, we proudly take part in a range of charity events and awareness days, giving our children the chance to learn, take action, and support important causes together as a community.

Jeans for Genes Day (Friday 19th September 2025)

Children are invited to wear their jeans for a day of fundraising and fun, raising funds to support children living with genetic disorders. A comfy, colourful way to make a big difference!

Children can wear jeans to school, in exchange for a £1 donation to charity. 

Macmillan Coffee Morning (Friday 26th September 2025)

Join others for cakes and conversation while raising awareness and funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. A lovely pause in the day to support people facing cancer.

Staff and Parents/Carers/Community only.

National Poetry Day (Thursday 2nd October 2025)

Celebrating the power of poetry, children explore language and creativity. Activities include reading, writing, and performing original poems – bringing words to life!

Harvest Festival (Monday 6th October 2025)

A seasonal celebration focused on gratitude and giving. Children bring in donations for local food banks while learning about harvest traditions.

Children are asked to bring in usual donations for the Harvest Festival.

World Mental Health Day (Friday 10th October 2025)

A focus on wellbeing, emotions, and resilience. Activities may include mindfulness sessions, mood-boosting games, and discussions about mental health.

Children can wear ‘yellow’ clothing to school.

Remembrance Day (Tuesday 11th November 2025)

A reflective event marking Remembrance Day. Children honour those who served by observing a two-minute silence and creating poppy-inspired artwork.

Children in Need (Friday 14th November 2025)

A day of fundraising and awareness for the BBC’s Children in Need charity. Expect fun-themed dress-ups, games, and activities to support children across the UK.

Children can wear own clothes, in exchange for a £1 donation to charity.

Christmas Jumper Day - Save the Children UK (Thursday 11th December 2025)

Deck the halls – and your jumper! Children wear festive jumpers and raise money to support Save the Children’s global projects.

Children can wear Christmas jumpers to school, and are asked to make a £1 donation for charity.

Safer Internet Day (Tuesday 10th February 2026)

An essential day to promote online safety. Lessons focus on responsible digital behaviour, and how to stay safe online.

World Book Day (Thursday 5th March 2026)

A beloved event celebrating reading and storytelling. Expect book-themed costume fun, reading aloud, and literary games.

Children & Staff are asked to dress-up as their favourite book characters.

Comic Relief (Friday tbc March 2026)

Red Nose Day returns! Humorous activities, sponsored events, and a focus on social justice help raise funds for vulnerable children and communities.

Children can wear their own clothes, in exchange for a £1 donation to charity. 

World Autism Acceptance Day (Thursday 2nd April 2026)

A day to foster understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of autistic individuals. Educational activities and awareness-raising discussions in class.

St George's Day (Thursday 23rd April 2026)

Celebrating England’s patron saint with national pride. Children may wear red and white, learn about St George’s legend, and participate in themed crafts.

Children can wear red and white clothing to school.

VE Day (Friday 8th May 2026)

Commemorating the end of World War II in Europe. Children learn about history’s significance through stories, songs, and period-inspired classroom projects.

World Day for Cultural Diversity (Thursday 21st May 2026)

A celebration of global cultures, traditions, and contributions. Children explore diversity through food, music, stories, and collaborative learning.

Children are asked to wear clothing that represents their culture, background and/or identity.

World Environment Day (Friday 5th June 2026)

An inspiring day to explore sustainability and caring for the planet. Activities may include planting, recycling projects, and discovery about protecting nature.
