Pupil Leadership Team & Pupil Voice

At The Riverview Academy, we believe that every child has a voice, and that their ideas, experiences and suggestions help shape the heart of our school. From the very youngest in Reception to our confident Year 6 leaders, we provide a range of meaningful opportunities for children to contribute to school life, make decisions, and feel a sense of ownership and pride in their community.

In EYFS & KS1, our Pupil Voice Council offers our younger children a nurturing space to share ideas, explore feelings and suggest ways to make school even better – whether it’s improving playtimes, choosing new books, or helping everyone feel happy and included. Meetings are supported by trusted adults and use visual prompts and activities to make sure every voice is heard.

In KS2, our Pupil Parliament gives our older children the chance to lead in more formalised roles, from Prime Minister and Treasurers to Ministers for Kindness, Environment, Curriculum and more. These children meet regularly, gather feedback from their peers, and work alongside staff to bring about real change in areas like fundraising, diversity, sustainability and curriculum improvement.

While the ‘Pupil Voice Council’ and ‘Pupil Parliament’ are distinct groups tailored to each phase, they work closely together as one unified team. Older children listen to and act upon the ideas of younger children, helping ensure we grow as one school, rooted in shared values and driven by the voices of those who matter most – our children!

At Riverview, pupil voice isn’t a token gesture. It’s a vital part of who we are!
