Our Vision, Values and Ethos

Our Vision

Our Ethos

At Riverview, our values are at the heart of everything we do.

We are a kind, inclusive community that embraces individuality and creates opportunities for all, irrespective of gender, race, disability or background.
Through excellent education in a safe and nurturing environment, we empower every child to become the very best version of themselves.
Guided by kindness, excellence, respect, resilience, responsibility and teamwork, our children grow into confident, creative learners who make a positive difference to our school, our community, and the wider world.

Our Values

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. They shape our relationships, guide our decisions, and inspire our community.

KINDNESS
Kindness means showing care, compassion, and thoughtfulness to ourselves and others. It is the foundation of a safe and nurturing school where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
Example: Children are encouraged to use kind words, include others in play and learning, and show empathy in their actions, creating a warm and welcoming community for all.

EXCELLENCE
Excellence is about striving to be the best in all we do – academically, socially, and personally. We set high expectations and celebrate progress and achievement at every level.
Example: Our curriculum challenges children to reach their full potential, while teachers provide tailored support to ensure all children can excel.

RESPECT
We promote a culture of mutual respect where everyone is treated with kindness, empathy, and understanding. Respect means valuing differences, listening to others, and taking care of our school and wider environment.
Example: Children are taught to value diverse opinions, show good manners, and take pride in their behaviour both in school and in the community.

RESILIENCE
Resilience is about persevering through challenges, bouncing back from setbacks, and approaching learning with a positive, determined mindset. We encourage children to take risks, learn from mistakes, and keep going even when things feel difficult.
Example: Children are supported to reflect on their learning, build confidence when things don’t go to plan, and develop strategies to manage emotions and overcome obstacles.

RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibility means taking ownership of our actions, choices, and learning. It helps us grow as individuals and contribute positively to our school community.
Example: Children are supported to take pride in their work, look after school resources, and follow through on commitments – helping to build a respectful and reliable environment for all.

TEAMWORK
Teamwork fosters collaboration, respect, and shared responsibility. We believe learning is a collective journey where everyone’s contribution matters.
Example: Group projects, sports, and school events promote co-operation and a sense of belonging among children, staff and parents/carers.
